Research Initiatives

The research agenda of the Centre For Excellence in Islamic FinTech (CEIF) is centered on generating actionable, policy-relevant insights and practical solutions that contribute to the advancement of Shariah-compliant digital finance. It encompasses a broad range of themes, including the adoption of FinTech in Islamic banking, digital transformation of financial services, and the ethical, legal, and governance implications of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and distributed ledger systems within Islamic financial ecosystems.

In addition, IU-CEIF emphasizes interdisciplinary and applied research that bridges theory, regulation, and industry practice. By aligning its research initiatives with the priorities of regulatory authorities, industry stakeholders, and global Islamic finance standards, the Centre seeks to inform policy development, enhance institutional practices, and support the sustainable growth of ethical, inclusive, and innovation-driven Islamic financial systems at both national and international levels.

Our Mission

The IU-CEIF engages in collaborative partnerships with a wide spectrum of local and international stakeholders, including Islamic banks, Modarabas, Takaful operators, FinTech firms, non-banking and non-financial organizations, regulatory and policymaking bodies such as the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), academic institutions, research centres, as well as professionals, and the wider community. These collaborations are designed to foster innovation, capacity building, and applied learning, while supporting joint research initiatives, knowledge exchange, and real-world project engagement that contribute to the sustainable development of Islamic banking, finance, and FinTech ecosystems.

Global Outreach

Through international conferences, speaker series, and strategic collaborations with institutions such as INCEIF Malaysia, the Islamic Development Bank, and the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance, the IU-CEIF provides a dynamic platform for discourse on emerging trends in Islamic FinTech. These engagements ensure that academics, professionals, and industry stakeholders remain at the forefront of technological innovation and ethical financial practices globally.

In addition, the IU-CEIF actively promotes joint research, knowledge exchange, and capacity-building initiatives with its international partners. By fostering collaboration across borders, the Centre not only contributes to the development of globally relevant Islamic FinTech solutions but also enhances Pakistan’s role in shaping innovative, Shariah-compliant, and sustainable financial ecosystems.
